The Smokin' Hot Style Staple
The smokey eye is a staple makeup look that has stood the test of time - mysterious worn during the day, glamorous worn at night, the look is one that suits all women. In sync with the revival of 60s and 70s fashion, the look is in vogue once again!
Pioneered by style icons such as the blond bombshell Brigitte Bardot and Elizabeth Taylor as the Queen of the Nile in “Cleopatra” and donned by modern fashionistas such as Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé and Mila Kunis, the sultry eye makeup has emerged as a style staple for every woman.
The smokey eye can be created in a myriad of shades and colours to suit your skin tone, but this technique seems unnecessary for the coming season. Classic Kohl, shimmery silvers and greys are the optimal colours for use by every woman with any skin tone.
Some of the most influential designers have opted for this look, with varying degrees of this sexy look seen in Diane von Furstenberg, Cushnie et Ochs, and Tom Ford's runway shows at New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2015.
To create the look, start by applying TK's concealer on your lids as a base. Take your TK's eyeliner pencil or liquid eyeliner, and line your eyes. Make sure you smudge the liner out to create a more smouldering effect. Using our Midnight Lust Eye Pallet, take the grey shade and blend right above the liner. After that, take a fluffy blending brush with the kohl shade, sweep into the creases and blend!
What really finishes the look are of course, the eyelashes. With such a dramatic and alluring eye, care must be taken with your lashes. First, apply lash extensions, such as our microfibre TK's #1 lashes, (skip this step if you are one of the lucky few blessed with long lashes), wait to dry and then sweep your mascara in a zig zag motion up your lashes. The motion helps to brighten your eye and achieve winged lashes. The look's versatility means it can complement fashion pieces and outfits that exude female strength – think mini skirts, structured blazers, button ups and knee high boots. Channel your inner seductress and step out in style, day or night!
